La famille de Kate vit à l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard, elle a donc un profond attachement à cette île et ses magnifiques traditions musicales. Le titre de cette suite vient du mot Abegweit en Micmacs et se traduit par “la terre bercée par les vagues.” Kate a découvert les pièces de Gary et Megan dans “Les Faiseux de Tounes / Tune-smiths: The first collection of Acadian compositions from Prince Edward Island,” un recueil édité par Anastasia DesRoches (2011). Le reel de Ward a été publié dans Jerry Holland’s second collection of tunes en 2000, à la suite de la rencontre de Jerry et Ward au Gaelic College à St. Anns, au Cap-Breton.

Kate’s family lives on Prince Edward Island, so she has a very strong connection to the island and its wonderful music. The title of this set is drawn from the Mi'kmaq name for the island, Abegweit, which translates to “the land cradled on the waves.” Kate discovered Gary and Megan’s tunes in Les Faiseux de Tounes / Tune-smiths: The first collection of Acadian compositions from Prince Edward Island, edited by Anastasia DesRoches and published in 2011. Ward’s reel was published in Jerry Holland’s second collection of tunes in 2000, after Jerry had met Ward at the Gaelic College in St. Anns, Cape Breton.
